GLEN CANYON NRA

I have driven through the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area twice as of the posting of this photo tour gallery. The second time was no less splendid than the first. Driving in from the west side of the river, the road takes you on a gradual descent through a narrow canyon of dark rock for several miles before coming out onto a pullout with a grand view of the river basin below. The drive down to the river bridge is nothing less than spectacular.

The photographs in this photo tour were taken in May of 2005. They highlight the scenic wonders found along the Colorado River at the Hite crossing in the upper Glen Canyon NRA. Related links for Glen Canyon NRA are listed near the bottom of this page.

	"Glen Canyon 001" Near Hite on the Colorado River in Southeastern Utah The river cuts a deep canyon through the Glen Canyon NRA. The bridge in the distance adds a touch of civilization to the predominately barren landscape.
	"Glen Canyon 002" Near Hite on the Colorado River in Southeastern Utah Variations in the texture and color of the rock formations along the river at the Hite crossing highlight the drive.
	"Glen Canyon 003" Near Hite on the Colorado River in Southeastern Utah The road cuts through the rock like the river through the canyon.
	"Glen Canyon 005" Near Hite on the Colorado River in Southeastern Utah Hardened sedimentary rock rolls across the river basin.
