The ruins at Hovenweep date back to A.D. 1200 and A.D. 1300, built by ancestral Puebloans who first began settling the area some 1,500 years ago. The images in this gallery are from the Square Tower area of the park, located near the visitors center. Due to late summer rains, the dirt roads that take you to the other areas of the park were inaccessible during this September visit.

The photographs in this photo tour were taken in September of 2006. They highlight the historic structures that make up the Square Tower area of Hovenweep. Related links for Hovenweep National Monument are listed near the bottom of this page.
